The new green of spring has well and truly made its arrival here on the Dewa Sanzan. The biggest difference between the Dewa Sanzan and other Shugendo mountains in Japan is that these mountains have been used for centuries to pray for a successful harvest for the surrounding Shonai region and other regions of Yamagata.

Rice farming in particular is out in full force at the moment, and the rice fields are starting to fill up with water straight from the Dewa Sanzan that give them the nutrients they require to feed Japan and other parts of the world.

This region is also known for its Sake of course! Including the new sake the @foofighters used in the promotion of their most recent album.
